More on the AI boom… Reuters reports many old power plants throughout Europe will likely be converted into data centres by companies like Microsoft and Amazon. Energy companies including Engie, RWE, and Enel will benefit from this repurpose, and while majority of the power supply will be from renewable energy sources, we can expect the surge in demand to still push fossil fuel consumption in the region..
